Retro Clean and simple

Hello again!  I hope everyone is doing great amid all the uncertainty out there.  It’s certainly a great time to keep our creativity flowing so that we feel the sense of normalcy and calm that it gives.  Most of all, that we are comforting the children who may feel nervous as well as being good examples to them.

We had an earthquake here in Utah this morning.  It certainly added to the weird feelings we are already working past!!

So the sentiment I chose for my card today is for me, my family, and everyone out there 🙂  Be Courageous!!

The layout is inspired by the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog current sketch

The stamps are by a few different sets I mixed together – all from Concord and 9th.  They are all a few years old and I still love them!

I did the coloring with Zig clean color markers and a little water.  And that bit of sparkle you see is the Spectrum Noir glimmer pen.  I love that thing!  The colors were inspired by the Less Is More current challenge.  I just had to make another card with these colors!

And that is my simple share for today.

Stay safe, happy, and healthy!  And again, be courageous!  God is aware of everything going on and loves us 🙂

Double Trouble Clean and Simple!

Today’s card is very clean and simple!  It pulls together several little challenges in it and it’s probably not a card I would have normally made!  But there is a super fun challenge blog that you’ve got to try out. I have fun every time I play along!  It’s “Double Trouble”.  There’s 3 different little options to take and sometimes it is especially fun to try them all!  I used the Case This Sketch layout #363 challenge for my starting idea and went from there with the Double Trouble prompts

And then Double Trouble Thing One says “Include at least one Spring item on your project made with punches, dies, cutting machines and even fussy-cutting”

retro team 3

This cute little spring flower comes from an old Sizzix/Hero Arts stamp and die set called “Garden Flowers”.  I haven’t used it in forever!!  But the reason I pulled it out for this challenge is because of what the Double Trouble Thing 3 says! “…include a bee, the makers of honey, or their honeycombs”

I realized, as I looked through my collection, that I have very minimal bee stamps!  But it’s good because it meant that this one got some love 😉

So with those challenges put together, I ended with this sweet and simple card.  The coloring is done with alcohol markers, even the strip on the right side.  I did an ombre effect with the same colors I did the leaves with.  And the “Hello Fabulous” sentiment comes from a Catherine Pooler set

That is my card for today!  I’ll be back tomorrow with another clean and simple card.

Hugs!

With Love

Hello everyone!  A couple of weeks ago, I watched a video on the Simon Says Stamp YouTube channel.  It was done by Gina K and I have wanted to sit down and try her technique since!  I took some inspiration from the color challenge over at Less Is More

less is more 415 graphic

less is more 415 color graphic

And I tried out the technique by Gina!  (You have to go check out that video!)

Here is my card

The technique has you emboss your image in white, blend some color with ink, and then go in with some colored pencils and gamsol to add some pretty blending

lim 5

It gives such a soft look! This beautiful set is by Gina K and is called “A year of flowers 2”

And the cute element in the die cut circle is from the Pink Fresh Studio Braided Circles die set

lim 4

And the challenge colors worked really well for this.  I love them together.  I added some Spectrum Noir glitter pen to the blossoms to give some shimmer

lim 2

I’m extra alert of fun coloring things right now because of the Daily Marker Color challenge going on.  And this one was so much fun, I am so glad Gina shared it and I will be using it lots in the future!

Hello across the miles

Hi again!  I”m back today with another card featuring the Oversized Hello from the new Waffle Flower Crafts March release.

wf release 3

Isn’t that huge ‘hello” just amazing?!!  I love it!  And as you can see, I used the Tulips stamps again.

wf release

This time, I colored them with Arteza brush pens and I just LOVE how the color turned out!

In this next picture, you can see that I gave the hello die some dimension.  I did this by layering several of the dies layered up

wf release 2

When I looked up some ideas for coloring the tulips, I was in awe of how many colors there can be and how beautiful they all are!  I could have endless fun coloring them all sorts of ways.

That’s my card for today!

Tomorrow evening, I will be posting a card set featuring this “Oversized Hello” die, as well as the coordinating stamps and also the new Sprigs die set by Waffle Flower!

(There will also be a video up on my Instagram again tomorrow)

Hugs to all!

Latest Club Sursee

I can’t say enough good about the February Club Sursee by Catherine Pooler!  I had so fun playing with it and made a card using the current Color Throwdown challenge.

Bring it Back

Hello stamping friends! I was so happy sit down to my stamp desk again after a wonderful vacation soaking up some sun!

I played along with the Lawn Fawnatics challenge for this card and it was extra fun.  The challenge is “Bring it Back” – which means pull out those old things we haven’t used in forever!

LF CHALLENGE 71

I went for the oldest stamps I have from Lawn Fawn, which will be a forever favorite – “Milk and Cookies”.  I also used “A Birdie Told Me” stamps and dies.  I grabbed some brads (I have tons and haven’t pulled them out in so long!) and I also went for a good, old, fun technique of dying my own white string to match my card.

Here it is!

LF 1

I also used the technique of distress blending with water spots – haven’t done that one in a long time too!

LF 4

LF 2Another old embellishment I used here was a ribbon slide.  Do you remember those?!

LF 6

What fun it was to dig into those little things that have collected a little dust and use them on a cute card!

LF 3

If you head on over to my Instagram, there’s a quick little video of this card coming together!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love is in the Air!

I am so excited and honored to be a guest designer for this month’s Retro Rubber Challenge Blog!  I have been a big fan of their challenges because they are specifically geared toward using the stuff in the stash you already have!  And we all have a stash, much of which gets ignored – right?! lol

Their challenge this time is a color challenge

RRCB 128 challenge image

I looked through my old Valentine’s stamps and landed at the “Love You Much” stamp set by Stampin’ Up!  This set is at least 10 years old, although I couldn’t find the exact year of release.  I had really fun playing with and using the challenge colors!

rrc 2

Anyone remember that set?!  I’m glad I kept it!

rrc 3

I added fun dimension to give it good interest and dimension

rrc 1

And those little love birds are on the inside of the card when it’s opened

rrc 4

Made me feel good to give this little set some love!  What’s in your stash that would make a fun Valentine’s card using the Retro Rubber challenge?  Stretch yourself and play along!

Thanks for visiting today!
