You’re on my mind

Happy Sunday and Happy October! I’m starting the week of with some stamping. I have been trying to work hard in my new farm life and find balance with it all. But one thing is for sure – I’m NOT balanced when I’m not stamping ha ha!!

So I jumped into one of my favorite challenges to get the mojo flowing. Retro Rubber Challenge Blog! If you follow me here on my blog or Instagram, you know I love to alternate between using new goodies and dipping into my old stash. I love to give old stamps love! So here is their current challenge

I chose to do the bottom row across

I used a VERY old set called “Upsy Daisy” by Stampin’ Up! I wanted to refresh it with some new style. I did some ink blending and splattering over an embossed image of those cute daisy silhouettes. I believe this set is from 2009. Wow! 12 years old and a darling card can still come from it!

My color scheme was inspired by the challenge over at TGIF challenges

Such a pretty color palette!

I used an envelope die set, also by Stampin’ Up! to create the cute little envelope out of the newsprint pattern paper. I searched and searched to find the name of it, but couldn’t find it! Wish I would have labeled it back when I got it years ago.

Added a little ink blending and some ribbon, along with some hand lettering to give the envelope a nice touch.

And something that flies – the cute little butterfly with a pearl accent!

It’s always fun to pull out sets and give them a refresher. I don’t even remember the last time I used this set. But when I did a giant de-stash, I felt it was cute enough to keep! I made a little video of this card coming together. You can catch it on my Instagram!

Thank you for stopping by today! I’ll have another card up here tomorrow for the fun Double Trouble challenge that begins first thing in the morning. See you then!

Feel Better

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! There’s a new challenge at Double Trouble

It’s one that everyone loves – Something, Anything, Everything! So you can grab your goodies and get crafting to your heart’s content. We want to see what you are working on!

Thing 3 wants to see a Fall Harvest item and it’s the time of year when we are pulling out those supplies. Here’s my card today doing just that!

I was inspired by the color palette that The Card Concept challenged everyone to use

Thing 2 wants to give a Double Dare. Partner up with any of our previous partners! You can find them on the Double Trouble Challenge Blog website. I chose Crafting Happiness. Their current challenge is “Pumpkin Spice”.

And it’s obvious this little drink to-go is something pumpkin spice! Yum!

We can’t wait to see what you share!

Turquoise Damask

Happy Saturday! Today’s card is to play along with The Flower Challenge

I’ve been wanting to pull this Damask Flowers set out that I got in my Club Sursee a couple months back. This challenge seemed like the perfect opportunity to use it

With the challenge to use turquoise, I pulled out several different shades to bring this together

I love the way these flowers turned out in these colors!

A few simple sequins and a simple sentiment add just the right touch as to not take away from the Damask and dots!

Thank you for stopping by. I’ve been trying to build my card stash back up! It’s gotten depleted. So I’ll see you back here real soon with the next card 🙂

Wish Big!

Sweet little pandas are in to start a new challenge with Double Trouble!

Here’s the fun challenges for this round

I chose to make a Hinge Fold card to go along with Thing 1

I used tiny little magnets for the fold flap to stick down good

Thing 3 wants to see Play Doh colors! Of course those are classic and bright and I thought these playful pandas went well with the bright happy feel that Play Doh always has!

These adorable little Mama Elephant playful pandas went well with the bright happy feel that Play Doh always has!

This time we are partnering with “Creative creases” so be sure to head over there with your fun creation too! And for all the details for this round, you can always head over to Double Trouble. Can’t wait to see what you enter!

Thanks for stopping by!

You’re so thoughtful

It’s time for another Double Trouble challenge! There’s a color choice going on and it looks a lot like Autumn!

Thing 1 wants to see some patterns! I happen to love when dots or stripes or plaids or whatever – is paired with a floral pattern! So my card today is dots and floral

Thing 3 is throwing a color palette out there! I love it too! I chose the soft blue, pink, orange, and brick red. You just need to choose 3 to join in on this part

These cute lanterns and all the foliage around them are from Reverse Confetti. The polka dot die in the background is from them too

I added lots of texture and elements to give it a very full style. I raised some of the pieces up and left some flat. I love it so much that I want to make a decoration like this for my home in real life!

If you chose at least three of the colors in the color palette given, you can go link up with our challenge partner, Color My Heart Color Dare so be sure to head over there!

And of course be sure to visit Double Trouble for all the details and to share your card with us over there. We always love to see your creations!

Thank you for swinging by my blog to check it out today!

3 challenges – 1 card

Ya’ll know how much I love challenges! I’d say 99% of my posts are me participating in them! Well, I was inspired by 3 different challenges as I looked through some to make my next card. First, PinkFresh Studio! I LOVE their products and I hadn’t pulled any of them out in awhile. The pictures in their inspiration photo caught me

Especially that bottom right picture. I loved the circle element with the stripes goin on and that pop of turquoise! And turquoise was already in my mind because of the challenge that came up today over at Color Hues

So I brought those two ideas together

All the dies and stamps on my card are from PinkFresh Studio except for the sentiment, which is by Hero Arts

One of my all time favorite challenges is The Flower Challenge because I LOVE creating with florals and foliage! Their challenge is to use a die and the option this time around is to make it a slimline card

PinkFresh has FABULOUS slimline products and this diagonal stripe background die is so versatile!

I used a simple ink pad water coloring to color the flowers and leaves. Then I added some sequins to give a little sparkle

I did make a little video of this card coming together! I love to watch a card get created in less than a minute and that’s what my little Instagram videos are all about. Head over there to watch!

Have a wonderful day!

Consider yourself hugged

I am always needing cards to let people know I am thinking of them! But many times I find myself taking forever on a card and then I only have one after quite some time in the craft room. I decided I needed to bust out some clean and simple cards to build up my stash again.

Whenever I want to go clean and simple, to any degree, I have a few favorite challenges that I go to for inspiration. This time, I went to Less is More and their current challenge is “Shades of Blue”

I actually have a hard time thinking of using blue on my cards! It’s just not a color I reach for first. That was the thing I liked about this challenge – it was going to push me to use blue! It’s why I like challenges. They get me thinking outside the box 🙂

So here’s my simple card

My layout and idea was also inspired by the challenge over at Fusion

Kitty, butterfly, sketch. I included them all. I flipped the sketch, though, and made it a vertical card. And the rectangles along the edge of that sketch? I used a dry emboss folder and did a pattern instead, in order to keep in more clean

I did my shades of blue in a few simple sequins, in the 2 little butterflies, and in the sentiment. I used stamps from W+9 and the embossing folder is by Darice

Thank you for stopping by today – and consider yourself hugged!

Cat love!

Double Trouble is running on a little bit different time schedule this time around and they start today, a Sunday, rather than a Monday. So let’s get right into it!

It’s time to see our precious fur babies with this challenge! Any of yours will do – but August 8th does happen to be International Cat Day, so there’s an bit of an extra eye on our feline friends!

My card for this challenge was made in memory of my cat, Kimchi. He passed away less than one week ago. He got a really bad infection and declined faster than we ever thought possible. He was such a little buddy to me and loved being with me at my stamp table and when I would study scriptures. In fact, he liked to be right on top of both! Here’s a cute pic of him right on my scriptures with his sister, Kiko. (Kimchi is the black cat on the right)

So with that sweetness in mind, I created this card

I used the Gina K stamp set “Open Book” to create this card. And I made it with a mixed media style

Now, Thing 3 would like to see you use a fun animal pun! Most critter stamp sets have one in them. I couldn’t find one that fit any sort of cat card in all of my collection. So I did this little quote instead.

Head over to Double Trouble challenge blog for all the details to play along! For this challenge, we are partnering with 2CraftyCritterCrazies. So after you have made a card with a fur baby on it, be sure to head there to enter your card!

Thank you so much for stopping by to see the details of my card today. I hope you have a fabulous August ahead of you with lots of opportunities to get inky!

To close out my blog post today, I’ll give a couple of fun facts about Kimchi, in his memory.

  • We came up with his name because at the time we got him, our oldest son, Hunter, was serving a church mission in South Korea! The staple food there is definitely kimchi. There’s lots of variety and it’s usually at every meal! So in honor of what our son was doing to serve the beautiful people over there, we named him Kimchi!
  • He snuggled with me to have naps or to go to bed at night. On several occasions, he reached his paw right over my chest as if to hug me. Aww!
  • He was black, but his sheddings were totally light gray!
  • He looked like he was wearing a perfect white vest with a white goatee, white gloves and boots. Ready for a big event!
  • He sat at the top of the stairway, watching whatever we were doing, just like this

And he sprawled out in the sunny spots just like this

Rest in peace my sweet Kimchi guy! Thanks for all the snuggles. I sure miss him.

Sweet Summer Hi!

I’m back today with a fun Summery card using some brand new products that I love!

These cute Summer stamps and dies came from the latest Club Sursee set by Catherine Pooler. And this fun color combo was inspired by the current Color Throwdown challenge!

Aren’t those colors just absolutely fabulous?! They scream happy Summer!

I used Zig Clean color markers to color these in the fun Color Throwdown colors. And I raised some images up, as well as the top right square to give added dimension

This fun layout was inspired by the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. I turned it horizontal and made each little section it’s own Summer thing

The cute little sunglasses got a little brush of Wink of Stella to give the lenses some sparkle and then of course sequins is the final touch to make my card feel finished

I was so excited to get myself all set up again for videos! I haven’t done one in months! So if you head over to my Instagram account (link to the right) you can see the super fast video of this bright card coming together

Thanks for stopping by to see it today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend 🙂

Dry emboss Thanks

Hello stamping friends!

I watched a video by Cathy Zielske on June 23rd that I absolutely loved! I was immediately inspired and had to give it a try myself. Here is a link to her video

“Obsessed! More fun with embossing folders” by Cathy Zielske

I pulled out a pretty embossing folder that I bought from Stampin’ Up! a bit ago. I’m sad to say that I’ve never used it! But I am huge on using all supplies, old and new, to create. So it was great to pull it out to make this card

I love a mixture of blue and green hues and usually it’s found on my ocean themed cards. But this time I wanted it to be a floral theme. These pretty flowers that are sticking out from behind the “thanks” die are from SugarPea Designs

That cute “thanks” die is by Pink and Main. I love that it has an outline die to go with it. I cut vellum with that and put it behind the black thanks for a soft and subtle touch. Then I put just a few sequins around to add interest and sparkle They are the kind that change color at different angles and these particular ones have the perfect blue and green hues that shine just right as you move it back and forth

I made this card for some very special stamp friends that I swap cards with a few times a year. And I plan on using this technique lots from now on! It’s so fun to watch it come together.

Thank you so much for stopping by to see it!

I’m getting ready to start my Instagram videos up again. I’m all set up and ready to go. So watch for those to pop up regularly again! I’ve missed doing them amidst the moving adventures!

Have a wonderful rest of your day and I’ll see you real soon 🙂
