Rustic floral

Today I am sharing a card that was inspired by some wedding floral I just did.  Her bouquet was so pretty and had a nice rustic touch.  And when I saw the Paper Craft Crew card challenge, it was the perfect time to pull my idea together!

ppc #228

I used products by My Favorite Things, amuse studio and Reverse Confetti. blog cardI must add that I even pulled out an old Stampin’ Up! set with the year 1992 on it!!  Yes, I still have sets that old.  I have 2 shelves of some wood mounted sets that I will probably refuse to ever get rid of because I liked them so much!  It that pine needle and pine cone touch on the card that I used the set for.

blog card 3I also found another card challenge blog that I’m excited to follow!  It’s the TGIF challenges and looks like a really fun weekly challenge to participate in, with lots of encouragement to use these cards we are making for something simple and great with their kindness project!  I will be sending this card out as my R.A.C.K. to the lady I did the wedding floral for.  Her and her husband are in the military together and that touches a special place in our hearts for those out fighting for our freedoms.

TGIF April 2018 Challenges_new-002Truly, they are simply fabulous for all they do!!

And that’s my card – for 2 different challenges – for today!  Have I ever said card challenges are my favorite?!  I can’t get enough of them.  I’ve got 5 more on my mind and can’t wait to go create and pull something together with the great ideas these card challenge bloggers come up with!

Add some texture

Ahhhhh…  Sitting to my stamp desk again felt SOO good!  Everything got busy and stayed busy with the clan once Spring Break hit!  I’m challenging myself to make a card a day every day this week except for Saturday.  And I am looking forward to it 🙂

I played along with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge this week which was “Add some texture” and they were featuring Tim Holtz products.  It’s a perfect fit because when I use Tim Holtz stuff, it always ends up “textury”!  There are some card makers out there that do an AMAZING job with it all the time.  For me – it stretches me because it’s not normally what I do.  It’s fun to add it in and this challenge was the perfect time to get all “Tim Holtz textured” again 🙂

The “because” die and the “You’re Missed” is by Lil Inker Designs

Dies from Avery Elle and Spellbinders plus a few little embellishments I have hanging around from Stampin’ Up! and my card was finished.

I might have to play with this style more often!

Totally die cut

Hello friends!  The card I’m sharing today is made entirely of die cuts!  It’s not very often that I make a card that has no stamping on it at all.  I had so fun layering all these  branches and flowers up to make a thick and lovely wreath.  The wreath, flowers and the branches are all part of the Spellbinders die set “Woodland wreath” and they sure layer up pretty!

spellbinders wreath card 3

I  also cut the hello from a beautiful Altenew’s set and layered it several times.  I then placed it in the center of the wreath.

Lastly, I added a bunch of embellishing gems, rhinestones, navy mini pearls, and lots of Nuvo drops!

spellbinders wreath card 4

It’s pretty in it’s simplicity, even though it a lot of time to create.  But the time it took was worth it!  And I can’t wait to send it out.

Happy Spring everyone!

My Favorite Things Sketch 376

My Favorite Things has a simple sketch for their current sketch challenge and I wanted to play along to make a couple of cards.  Here is the sketch

mft sketch photo

I’ve been in love with this Sweet Succulents set and the coordinating dies, so I just had to use them again.

mft sketch 7

mft sketch 18Wink of Stella always adds a nice touch and I especially loved it on these cacti!  Cacti?  Is that a word lol!  I haven’t used it forever.

mft sketch 15

And just for fun, I flipped the sketch and the orientation of the card to make another.

And that’s a wrap for today’s stamping!

I’ve got my eye on several other challenges.  Can’t wait to see what fun stuff I’ll be pulling out to create with next!  Is it possible to be addicted to challenges? ha ha!  They are so fun to stretch my stamping!

Freshly Made Sketches #328

I played along with sketch #328 over at Freshly Made Sketches for my card today.

freshly made sketch

I used amuse studio stamps with coordinating dies along with dies from My Favorite Things, Spellbinders and Hero Arts to create these cards

freshly made 3I love using the Freshly Made Sketches because I tend to love things clean and simple!

freshly made 4

I love a good wreath and these flowers from amuse studio have kind of a wildflower look to them.  Made for fun floral on the wreath

freshly made

I was having so fun with the flowers that I colored and cut a whole bunch of them.  So while I had all the supplies out, I went ahead and made a fancy wreath card too!

freshly made 6

I’m always needing “Thinking of You” style cards so if I’m going to make one, I may as well make 2 while I’m at it!

freshly made 7

With all the pearl accents, and the layered flowers and leaves, it made for a much fuller wreath.

freshly made 5

Both cards were fun to make!  When I finish a simple one, I’m certain that’s my favorite kind.  Then I do a fancier one and think those are.  So I guess I really love both!

freshly made 2

But if I had to choose a favorite, it’d probably be the clean and simple  kind.  Thank goodness I don’t have to pick one style with this hobby!!

Little card set

I recently found this cute little machine called the Sizzix Sidekick on Scrapbook.com and had to have it!

card set 6

The starter set for it comes with a little stamp set and a matching dies.  With those, I made a simple card set to give as a gift.

I’ll definitely be using this thing for a lot of the little die cutting there is to do!  It will be great for travel too!

Hope you have had a wonderful day today!

2 challenges in 1

Hello again!  Today I’m played along with challenges to create my card –  Lawn Fawntatics and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.

The Lawn Fawnatics challenge is to try a new technique.

lawn fawnatics new technique

And the Simon Says Stamp challenge is to make your own background.

So I pulled out a couple of my Lawn Fawn sets.  Home Sweet Home and A Birdie Told Me.

I created my own background using a technique that I have never done but wanted to.  Watercolor.

LF SSS CARD 3It was fun to do!  I’ve always been a little too nervous to try watercolor for a background.  But that’s what a challenge is all about, right? It was time to be brave lol.  I stamped the cute little heart, star and flower images (A Birdie Told Me) on top of the dried watercolor to create the background.

Then added sequins to complete the fun theme of the card.

LF SSS card 2

And that’s today’s card!  I just love love love challenges and how they get me outside of my regular stamping habits!

Until next time!

Time Out Challenge

I decided to play along with Time Out Challenges this week.  I never have before but I love how they have a word and then an optional twist and I wanted to give it a try.  Here it is for this week, challenge 103

time out challenges pic

And guess who I thought of first?  Stella!!!!!  This sweet Stella Stamper stamp set tells you just how long I’ve been stamping. It’s from 1999 by Stampin’ Up!  And I had already been stamping for a few years at that point.  Yes.  Cardmaking is the best hobby in the world and home really is where the stamps are!

Time Out challenges

I just did simple colored pencil coloring on her.

time out challenges 2Good Ol’ Stella.  She represents so many of us!  Ready to stamp at any given moment possible!! 🙂  I love love love this hobby and have for more than half of my life.  It’s fun to be sharing it now through this blog and on my Instagram.  Took me awhile to get it all figured out and stay consistent at taking pics and getting them up – but I’m really enjoying it!

I’ll be playing with some Lawn Fawn stamps next to participate in their current challenge.  See you soon to share what I come up with there!

Sketch For You To Try

Today I’m playing along with the Reverse Confetti Sketch For You to Try #57

sfytt pic

Their adorable mermaid set “Mermaid Kisses” was so fun to craft with.  It’s coordinating dies made it easy to cut out all these adorable oceany images to bring my card together.

sfytt3

I wouldn’t mind making a splash – right back in to the Gulf of Mexico!  Specifically Passion Island!!  This was me exactly 2 weeks ago!

But with Winter making it obvious that it’s hanging on for awhile by dumping some good snow – I just have to dream of my day on this beautiful beach with my hubby.

Okay.  Back to my card.

sfytt

The squares on this sketch made me think a little differently than I normally would when putting a card together and I loved it.  It’s why card challenges are my favorite way to stamp!  I angled the card toward the sun (it is out today, hooray!)  for this one so that you could see the pretty shimmer on all the cute images.  I used the Spectrum Noir sparkle shimmer brush pen for that.

sfytt 4

And that’s the creation for my crafty time today.

sfytt 5

Thanks for visiting!  Go play with your Reverse Confetti supplies and this sketch!  If you don’t have any – it’s time to get some.  Their images are always soooo cute!

Big hugs

Foil Mates Fun

I watched the funniest stamping tutorial ever!  I’m subscribed to Gina K’s amazing YouTube channel and love her tutorials.  Well, on there, she recommended that her followers take a look at her daughter’s new channel.  So I did.  I was laughing so hard!!  She is a total hoot!  It was her second video that really got me laughing.  But aside from the laughter, she demonstrated a card using the Gina K Foil Mates.  I ordered a package of those a little while back, but have I used them? Well of course not lol.  They have sat along with other products waiting to be used!

So after watching the fun tutorial, I was extra motivated to pull them out and make a card.

Gina K 2

See all that pretty rose gold shimmer?  That’s a Foil Mates sheet cut and foiled.  So pretty!

Gina K 1

That pretty flower, braches and sentiment are from the Gina K set called “A Year of Flowers 2”

I added some Nuvo Drops to the center of the flower and then some dots around the flower to give it a bit of embellishment.

Gina K 3And that’s my first “Foil Mates” card!  I can’t wait to play with it all again and I hope I get better and better at it!  But either way, peeling that pretty foil up to reveal the shine is just awesome!

Hope you’ve had a great start to your week and that it just keeps getting better!
